I tried installing this myself, however I ran the install program in Comodo's Sandbox; first of all I got an error message that said "Unable to load plug-in library. Please rebuild your project and make sure all required plug-ins are installed.
Action skipped"

Then Comodo stopped it accessing the internet, it doesn't need to access the internet until I'm ready to download some music. At this point I cancelled the installation. Then I found these comments about people having virus infestations after .downloading Bearshare.

I suspect that there may well be rootkits involved as well; they make your computer even more vunerable to attacks.

This Bearshare site should be taken down along with all the other sites that send infected files out. Surely legal action could be taken against Bearshare?

Over the years I used a variety of file sharing programs. However some of them gave me spyware like bearshare for instance and limewire. Maybe I had the wrong versions I´m not totally sure. My only positive experience is with Ares Galaxy which is free and totally free off spyware and virusses.

This is from a user who had the same malware problem with the Bearshare download. However, I have the good luck of having VIPRE anti-virus on my computer, which provides fantastic customer service and malware removal at no cost as long as you carry your subscription.

In my experience, VIPRE is the fastest, least memory-hogging, least intrusive, and all-around best malware catcher in the business. It's probably the cheapest too (around 19.00-29.00/year, but better deals can be struck if you get the resonably priced lifetime contract). Plus, you're getting free help from true U.S. IT professionals.

This service has two tiers. Initially, you can call their 1st tier techs 24/7, and most of the time, they'll be able to resolve your issues. If they can't, the'll put you thru to the 2nd tier reps, who'll make an appointment with you to remove the malware from your machine.

I uninstalled Bearshare and have run several spyware blocking programs. However, when I visit google the bearshare Icon precedes the google URL in IE8. Any ideas how to kill the bear?

Maybe you didn't read the post.... ALL file sharing services contain viruses.... the only surefire way to not get a virus off of a file sharing service is to NOT use a file sharing service - plain and simple!

I Had Bearshare Installed On My Computer,
Two Times I Had Malware On My PC, I Thought That Could Be From Bearshare, So I Removed The Malware And I Removed Bearshare, Does my Computer Still Have Viruses, Adware, Malware or Spyware or Even other Ware On My PersonalComputer (PC) When I Removed Bearshare And The Two Malware Files?
Should I/Must I Reboot/Renistall My Computer?

It's not so much that the file sharing programs themselves are infected, its the fact that the files you're downloading using these programs are infected. Overall, I stay away from anything peer-to-peer because it's just not worth the trouble. I have no problem buying my music off of iTunes or buying legitimate copies of software - it's the only way to stay safe and keep yourself out of a legal mess.
