When people complain about having viruses on their computer, they often don’t know how they got them. They just tell me that they use their computer to play games, browse the internet, or listen to music. But as soon as I see that loveable-looking Bearshare icon on the desktop, I know where the viruses probably came from – they downloaded them on purpose.
What is File Sharing
File sharing is the direct sharing of files between two or more computer across the internet using programs such as Bearshare, Limewire, or Morpheus (just to name a few). Designed to be a convenient way of distributing legitimate freeware and open-source code, file sharing has become a big problem for the recording industry and software companies. Most of the peer-to-peer (or P2P) traffic is made up of pirated software, bootleg movie titles, and illegal music downloads.
Shared Files Often Contain Viruses
When you download files using programs like Bearshare, you risk exposing your computer to potential harmful viruses, spyware, and adware. That harmless looking MP3 file may contain a very robust virus that can play havoc with your computer system down the road.
When you download a file using Bearshare, you are basically and deliberately downloading a viruses onto your computer. Now that doesn’t make much sense, does it? But it happens all the time.
How to Keep Bearshare Viruses Out
Almost every time I see Bearshare installed on a computer, I see a heavy infection of viruses. In fact, I can’t recall a single computer with Bearshare installed that wasn’t heavily infected. There are a large number of unscrupulous people on the internet and they want your computer to become infected.
The best advise I can give someone to keep from getting infected by a virus from Bearshare is to simply not download anything using Bearshare. In fact, don’t even bother putting Bearshare on your computer! It will end up causing more problems than its worth.

Does Shareaza Contain Viruses?
Shareaza Is An Other P2P Program, But Has The Same Interface As Bearshare.
Does Ares Galaxy Contain Viruses?
Does The New Version Of Limewire Contain Viruses?
Does The Old Limewire Version 3.0.2 Contain Viruses?
It's not so much that the file sharing programs themselves are infected, its the fact that the files you're downloading using these programs are infected. Overall, I stay away from anything peer-to-peer because it's just not worth the trouble. I have no problem buying my music off of iTunes or buying legitimate copies of software – it's the only way to stay safe and keep yourself out of a legal mess.

Maybe you didn't read the post…. ALL file sharing services contain viruses…. the only surefire way to not get a virus off of a file sharing service is to NOT use a file sharing service – plain and simple!
I Had Bearshare Installed On My Computer,
Two Times I Had Malware On My PC, I Thought That Could Be From Bearshare, So I Removed The Malware And I Removed Bearshare, Does my Computer Still Have Viruses, Adware, Malware or Spyware or Even other Ware On My PersonalComputer (PC) When I Removed Bearshare And The Two Malware Files?
Should I/Must I Reboot/Renistall My Computer?
Anything is possible. So long as you have a good anti-virus program running on your system (such as AVG), a good firewall (I prefer ZoneAlarm), and periodically run anti-malware programs (like Malwarebytes) then you should be fine. However, if you're that worried about the potential for additional viruses or if you had a massive infection with lots of system errors, then there's nothing wrong with a clean install – although I always reserve this as my last option. Ultimately, it's up to you to determine the best course of action.
BEARSHARE takes over your browser.
Install Bareshare AT YOUR OWN RISK!
It is absolute crap!!
Malwarebytes is the painless to securely remove malware I would highly recommend it but you must also get another software on your computer such as antivirus as malwarebytes always says you get a an best protection for your Computer or Laptop
I uninstalled Bearshare and have run several spyware blocking programs. However, when I visit google the bearshare Icon precedes the google URL in IE8. Any ideas how to kill the bear?
This is from a user who had the same malware problem with the Bearshare download. However, I have the good luck of having VIPRE anti-virus on my computer, which provides fantastic customer service and malware removal at no cost as long as you carry your subscription.
In my experience, VIPRE is the fastest, least memory-hogging, least intrusive, and all-around best malware catcher in the business. It's probably the cheapest too (around 19.00-29.00/year, but better deals can be struck if you get the resonably priced lifetime contract). Plus, you're getting free help from true U.S. IT professionals.
This service has two tiers. Initially, you can call their 1st tier techs 24/7, and most of the time, they'll be able to resolve your issues. If they can't, the'll put you thru to the 2nd tier reps, who'll make an appointment with you to remove the malware from your machine.
Over the years I used a variety of file sharing programs. However some of them gave me spyware like bearshare for instance and limewire. Maybe I had the wrong versions I´m not totally sure. My only positive experience is with Ares Galaxy which is free and totally free off spyware and virusses.
BEARSHARE WILL FU*K YOUR COMPUTER UP SEVERELY! !!!!! it crashed my disk drive, it crashed the internet browser, you cannot do anything on the computer what so ever. Worst mistake of my life installing that sh*t….
I tried installing this myself, however I ran the install program in Comodo's Sandbox; first of all I got an error message that said "Unable to load plug-in library. Please rebuild your project and make sure all required plug-ins are installed.
Action skipped"
Then Comodo stopped it accessing the internet, it doesn't need to access the internet until I'm ready to download some music. At this point I cancelled the installation. Then I found these comments about people having virus infestations after .downloading Bearshare.
I suspect that there may well be rootkits involved as well; they make your computer even more vunerable to attacks.
This Bearshare site should be taken down along with all the other sites that send infected files out. Surely legal action could be taken against Bearshare?
